What is Your Passion?

I always say to young people when they say they are not sure what job they want when they leave university. I then go on to ask the 1 question that gets their curiosity going. What is your passion? What do you love? If you work on a passion project, you are more likely to succeed and you will never work another day in your life if you do what you love.

What is my passion? Well, those that know me know that I love people, well nice people to be honest. I love connecting people which is why I set up Introbiz. I was rubbish at networking when I first started and having learnt the hard way and trying to give it the “hard sell” when I first started, getting no business and then learning that networking was all about long-lasting relationships, I became good at monetising my connections and closed lots of sales by connecting to more people.

I attended the members only event at Home Grown in London last night and made some fabulous new connections and met up with a few people who I already knew, some fabulous opportunities to now follow up on, exciting times.

Now I am passionate about teaching others how to monetise and build their network.

Finding it hard to monetise? Want to network effectively and more successfully, book a call with me below and let’s see how I can help you, I’m here to serve educate and connect.

Why Brand Suitability Is So Important For Your Advertising

Why Brand Suitability Is So Important For Your Advertising

Gone are the days when simply avoiding overtly controversial content was enough to protect a brand’s image. A nuanced understanding of brand suitability plays a pivotal role in shaping successful advertising strategies.

The Rise of Contextual Advertising

The importance of brand suitability has been amplified by the rise of contextual advertising. This approach, which targets ads based on the content of the webpage rather than user data, has gained traction in the UK, particularly in light of stricter data protection regulations like GDPR.

Contextual advertising allows for more precise control over where your ads appear, ensuring they’re shown alongside relevant content. This improves brand suitability, and it can enhance ad performance by reaching users when they’re in a receptive mindset.

Brand Suitability Protects Your Reputation

A single misstep can go viral and cause significant reputational damage. Brand suitability serves as a crucial safeguard for your company’s image. You reduce the risk of your brand being associated with content that could harm your reputation by making sure your ads appear in suitable contexts.

Brand suitability protects your reputation with consumers, partners, investors, and other stakeholders. Maintaining a strong, consistent brand image is crucial for long-term success.

Enhancing Ad Performance and ROI

Your ads are more likely to resonate with viewers and drive engagement when they appear in contexts that align with your brand values and target audience interests. Ads appearing in brand-suitable environments perform better across various metrics, including brand recall, purchase intent, and click-through rates.

For example, a sports nutrition brand advertising alongside fitness content will probably see better engagement than if its ads appeared on unrelated pages. This alignment improves ad performance and makes more efficient use of your advertising budget.

Brand suitability can help in creating a more cohesive customer journey. Your ads are more likely to reach potential customers at the right stage of their buying journey when they appear in relevant contexts, improving the chances of conversion. Brand safety and suitability are big parts of improving how your campaigns perform. Talk to the team at Channel Factory about how they can help you find your audience and protect your business.

Navigating the Complexities of Digital Platforms

Each platform has its own content ecosystem and advertising policies. What’s considered suitable on one platform might not be on another. For instance, the tone and content that work well on TikTok might be inappropriate for LinkedIn.

UK advertisers need to be particularly aware of platform-specific nuances. For example, advertising regulations for gambling and alcohol are stricter in the UK compared to some other countries. Ensuring compliance while maintaining brand suitability across different platforms requires a nuanced approach and often specialised expertise.

Adapting to Changing Consumer Expectations

Consumer expectations around brand behaviour and corporate responsibility are constantly evolving. What was considered suitable advertising a few years ago might not meet today’s standards.

For instance, UK consumers are increasingly concerned about environmental issues, as well as animal welfare. A brand that doesn’t consider sustainability in its advertising strategy might find itself out of step with public sentiment, even if its ads aren’t appearing alongside overtly controversial content.

The Importance of Networking Events in Business

Networking is a crucial aspect of any successful business. It allows you to connect with like-minded individuals, exchange ideas, and forge valuable relationships. In today’s competitive world, building a strong network is essential for personal and professional growth. By attending networking events, you have the opportunity to meet potential clients, partners, and mentors who can help you take your business to the next level.

Benefits of Attending Networking Events

Attending networking events offers a multitude of benefits for entrepreneurs and professionals alike. Firstly, it provides a platform to connect with individuals who share similar interests and goals. By surrounding yourself with like-minded people, you can gain inspiration, motivation, and support. These connections can lead to collaborations, partnerships, and even lifelong friendships.

Furthermore, networking events offer an opportunity to expand your client base. By meeting potential clients face-to-face, you can establish trust and showcase your expertise. Building genuine relationships through networking events can often result in long-term business partnerships and referrals. Word-of-mouth recommendations are invaluable in today’s competitive business landscape.

Lastly, attending networking events allows you to learn from others’ experiences and gain valuable insights. You can attend seminars, workshops, and panel discussions where industry experts share their knowledge and expertise. By actively participating and engaging with others, you can enhance your own skills and acquire new perspectives. Networking events provide a unique learning environment that can accelerate your personal and professional growth.

Tips for Effective Networking

Networking can feel overwhelming, especially for those who are new to the business world or introverted by nature. However, with a few simple tips, you can navigate networking events with confidence and maximise your opportunities for success.

  1. Prepare and set goals: Before attending a networking event, do your research. Identify the key individuals you want to connect with and set specific goals for the event. This will help you stay focused and make the most of your time.
  2. Be approachable: Smile, maintain open body language, and be approachable to others. Remember, everyone is attending the event to meet new people and make connections. Take the initiative to introduce yourself and engage in conversations.
  3. Listen actively: Networking is not just about talking; it’s about listening too. Show genuine interest in others by actively listening to what they have to say. Ask questions, seek advice, and demonstrate your willingness to learn from others.
  4. Follow up: After the event, make sure to follow up with the people you connected with. Send personalised emails or LinkedIn messages to express your gratitude for the conversation and express your interest in continuing the relationship.

By implementing these tips, you can make the most of your networking experience and build meaningful connections.

Building Genuine Connections at Networking Events

Building genuine connections is the key to successful networking. While it can be tempting to focus on quantity, it’s the quality of your connections that truly matters. Here are some strategies to help you build genuine connections at networking events:

  1. Be authentic: Be yourself and allow your personality to shine through. People are more likely to connect with someone who is genuine and authentic. Share your passions, experiences, and aspirations with others, and be open to hearing their stories as well.
  2. Find common ground: Look for common interests or experiences that you share with others. This could be a hobby, a similar industry background, or even a shared hometown. Finding common ground helps to establish rapport and build a solid foundation for a genuine connection.
  3. Offer value: Networking is a two-way street. Instead of focusing solely on what you can gain from others, think about what you can offer. Share your knowledge, provide insights, or make introductions that could be beneficial to the other person. By offering value, you demonstrate your willingness to contribute to the relationship.
  4. Follow up and nurture relationships: After the event, make a conscious effort to stay in touch with the people you connected with. Send occasional emails, invite them for coffee, or connect on social media platforms. Nurturing relationships over time will help build trust and strengthen your network.

Remember, genuine connections take time and effort to develop. Focus on building relationships based on mutual respect, trust, and shared interests, and you will reap the rewards in the long run.

Overcoming Networking Challenges and Building Confidence

Networking can be intimidating, especially for those who are introverted or lack confidence in social situations. However, with the right mindset and a few strategies, anyone can overcome networking challenges and build confidence.

  1. Shift your mindset: Instead of viewing networking events as daunting tasks, reframe them as opportunities for personal and professional growth. Embrace the chance to meet new people, learn from others, and expand your network. Adopting a growth mindset can help you approach networking events with a positive attitude.
  2. Set realistic goals: Start small by setting realistic goals for each networking event. Instead of aiming to meet every person in the room, focus on having meaningful conversations with a few individuals. Quality connections are more valuable than quantity.
  3. Practise active listening: Listening is a valuable skill in networking. Practise active listening by focusing on the person you are speaking to, maintaining eye contact, and asking thoughtful questions. By showing genuine interest in others, you can build rapport and make a lasting impression.
  4. Join networking groups or organisations: Consider joining networking groups or organisations that align with your interests or industry. These groups often provide a supportive environment where you can practise your networking skills and build confidence gradually.
  5. Take small steps outside your comfort zone: Building confidence in networking takes practice. Start by taking small steps outside your comfort zone, such as initiating conversations with strangers or volunteering to speak at a networking event. With each step, you will become more comfortable and confident in your networking abilities.

Remember, building confidence in networking is a journey. Be patient with yourself, celebrate your successes, and learn from your experiences. With time and practice, you will develop the skills and confidence needed to thrive in networking environments.

Your next networking event awaits, join us for breakfast on 19th April 7:30-9:30am at the Future Inn Cardiff Hotel. Get your ticket here

Introduction to networking events

Networking events are a fantastic opportunity to expand your professional network, meet like-minded individuals, and discover new business opportunities. However, attending these events can be intimidating, especially if you’re not naturally inclined towards small talk. But fear not! In this ultimate guide, we will unlock the secrets of how to break the ice and master small talk and provide you with valuable tips to ensure you feel confident when attending your next networking event.

The importance of small talk in networking

Small talk may sometimes seem trivial, but it plays a vital role in establishing connections and building relationships at networking events. Engaging in small talk allows you to break the ice, establish rapport, and create a comfortable environment for meaningful conversations. It’s the gateway to more substantial discussions and can leave a lasting impression on the people you meet.

Benefits of successful networking

Successful networking can open doors to countless opportunities. By attending networking events and mastering the art of small talk, you can expand your professional circle, gain valuable insights from industry experts, and even find new clients or job opportunities. Building a strong network allows you to tap into a wealth of knowledge, support, and resources that can aid you in your career growth.

How to overcome networking event anxiety

It’s not uncommon to feel anxious before attending a networking event, especially if you’re not naturally outgoing. The key to overcoming this anxiety is preparation. Start by setting realistic expectations for yourself and focus on the positive outcomes that can arise from the event. Remember, everyone is there to meet new people and make connections. Take a deep breath, exude confidence, and remind yourself that you have valuable insights and experiences to share.

Essential networking event preparation

Preparation is crucial for networking event success. Begin by researching the event and its attendees, if possible. Familiarise yourself with the event’s purpose, the industries represented, and any keynote speakers or panel discussions. This knowledge will help you tailor your conversations and ask relevant questions. Additionally, prepare a brief introduction about yourself, highlighting your professional background and interests. Having this ready will allow you to confidently introduce yourself to others and make a memorable first impression.

Effective small talk strategies

When engaging in small talk, it’s essential to be genuine, approachable, and attentive. Start by finding common ground with the person you’re speaking to. This can be anything from shared interests, hobbies, or even the event itself. Show a genuine interest in the other person by actively listening and asking follow-up questions. Remember, small talk is not just about talking but also about actively engaging with the other person. By showing genuine interest and actively listening, you’ll create a positive and memorable experience for both parties involved.

Asking the right questions at networking events

Asking the right questions can spark interesting conversations and help you establish a deeper connection with others at networking events. Avoid generic questions like “What do you do?” and instead opt for open-ended questions that encourage more detailed responses. For example, you could ask, “What inspired you to pursue a career in your industry?” or “What challenges have you faced in your profession, and how did you overcome them?” These questions not only showcase your genuine interest but also allow for more meaningful discussions.

Navigating networking conversations

Navigating conversations at networking events can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially if there are multiple people involved. To ensure a smooth flow of conversation, it’s important to be mindful of the dynamics and include everyone in the discussion. Avoid dominating the conversation and give others an opportunity to share their thoughts. Additionally, be aware of non-verbal cues such as body language and facial expressions. These cues can provide valuable insights into how your conversation is being received and allow you to adjust accordingly.

Building genuine connections at networking events

Building genuine connections is the ultimate goal of networking events. To achieve this, focus on quality rather than quantity. Instead of trying to meet as many people as possible, aim to have meaningful conversations with a select few individuals. Take the time to get to know them on a deeper level, understand their professional goals, and find ways in which you can mutually support each other. Remember, building genuine connections takes time and effort, but the rewards can be immeasurable.

Follow-up and maintaining relationships after networking events

Attending a networking event is just the beginning. To make the most of your connections, it’s crucial to follow up and maintain relationships after the event. Send personalised follow-up emails or LinkedIn messages to the people you met, expressing your gratitude for the conversation and expressing your interest in staying connected. Additionally, find ways to provide value to your connections, whether it’s sharing relevant articles or introducing them to other professionals in your network. By nurturing these relationships, you’ll create a strong and supportive network that can benefit you throughout your career.

Conclusion

Unlocking the secrets of small talk is the key to networking event success. By mastering the art of small talk, asking the right questions, and building genuine connections, you can make the most of your networking opportunities. Remember to overcome any anxiety by preparing yourself and approach networking events with a positive mindset.

Importance of wellbeing in the workspace – Clockwise

Work from home? Office? Or coworking space? Pick one full-time? Or go hybrid? As we work to find our flow in this new world of workspaces, it’s important to not overlook wellbeing in the decision-making process. Of course, finding what works for you is personal, but this could be a great place to start.

First things first, what is wellness? To put it simply, wellness is a state of mind determined by our daily routine. Wellness isn’t just important for mental health though; it’s impact on the physical is just as powerful. And, whilst easy enough to grasp, the topic itself can seem overwhelming, so let’s explore three key areas of workplace wellness and how we can make them work for us.

  1. Working hygiene

Just like personal and sleep hygiene, the importance of working hygiene cannot be overstated. And whilst studies have delved into this extensively, a simple checklist is a great place to start when determining where you can improve and where you are succeeding.

  • Set boundaries around working hours
  • Disable work notifications on your personal phone
  • Take regular screen breaks
  • Book annual leave days to switch off

These four areas of work hygiene can build a vital foundation for a stronger, happier and healthier wellbeing.

  1. Social engagement

Social relationships may seem like an overlooked commodity to the working process, but who and how we work with can greatly affect the quality of our work. In Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, social connection is a key pillar to achievement, prestige, unity and a well-rounded life, so when building your wellness plan, plan for social connection.

  • Working in an office? Watercooler talk may be a little outdated, but taking a few minutes to ask coworkers about their weekends, popular shows, or personal lives can be a game-changer. Not only does it improve your relationships, but it’ll foster a more open working environment too.

Working from home? Though different, Zoom, Slack and Teams can be just as gratifying as human conversation. And it doesn’t have to be forced! Simply ask how the person you’re talking to is, share interesting articles and have a five-minute call to connect. Just because we’re using machines doesn’t mean we have to act like them.

Clockwise_WoodGreen_GirlOnTerrace_15
  1. Environmental choices

Where we work may look different in recent years, and what works for you may have shifted. However, it can’t hurt to learn what factors make a good working environment and how to implement them in your workspace.

Here are three helpful things to integrate into your space for an optimised mind; greenery, lighting, and decor.

  • Plants are a great way to create cleaner air, but they can also greatly affect our working practices. In a recent survey by Grow Up, almost 20% of people reported a marketed increase in their productivity in the presence of a more leafy surrounding.
  • Good workplace lighting can improve concentration and mood, but bad workplace lighting can create fatigue, eyestrain, headaches, lower morale and less accurate work. With this in mind, creating a space with a mix of natural light through the day and soft light for the darker hours is key.
  • An office needn’t bare white walls and rows of desks. Actually, we’d recommend it isn’t. Whether you are trying to foster a creative hub or project a professional image, colour is nothing to shy away from. In a study by the University of Texas, researcher Nancy Kwallek found workers made more errors when in white rooms than in rooms with colour (P.s if you’re planning a DIY day after that, most workers interviewed preferred a blue or blue-green backdrop to their workdays).

Now you’re armed with a toolkit for better workplace wellness, take time to assess and plan your road to a happier, more productive you.

At Clockwise, we’ve designed our offices to incorporate all elements of workplace wellness, so if coworking feels like the right move for you, get in touch.

Networking as a Long Term Strategy

I was talking to someone yesterday and they said we won’t network now as we are busy. I said that’s the best time to network as you won’t necessarily get business straight away. Many people think that when they are quiet you should start networking then, but it’s during your busy time so there is no pressure to bring in immediate business. Networking is ia long-term strategy, and it’s something that can yield significant benefits over time. While it might seem counterintuitive to focus on networking when you’re busy with immediate tasks, it’s important to consider the broader perspective. Here are a few reasons why networking during busy times can be advantageous.

Relationship Building Networking is about building relationships and establishing connections with others in your industry or related fields. These relationships can lead to collaborations, partnerships, and opportunities in the future. By networking during busy times, you’re sowing the seeds for potential partnerships when you might have the capacity to pursue them later.

Diversification. During busy periods, you might be primarily focused on your current projects or clients. However, diversifying your network can lead to new clients, projects, or even entirely new ventures down the line. Networking introduces you to different perspectives and opportunities that you might not have encountered otherwise.

Learning and Growing. Engaging with other professionals during busy times can expose you to new ideas, trends, and industry insights. This continuous learning can help you stay relevant and innovative in your field, even as you navigate your current workload.

Trust and Credibility. Building a strong network takes time, and the relationships you establish can enhance your credibility and reputation over the long term. When you do have availability for new projects, potential clients or partners who know you through networking will be more likely to consider working with you due to the established trust.

Reciprocity. Networking isn’t just about what you can gain, but also what you can offer. By connecting with others and helping them when you can, you create a sense of reciprocity. This can lead to others being more willing to help you in return when you need it. Win win.

Anticipating Slow Periods. Industries often have their ups and downs. Networking during busy periods can help you create a buffer for slower times by having a pool of potential opportunities and contacts to tap into.

Staying Visible. Consistent networking ensures that you remain visible within your industry. Even if you’re busy now, staying engaged in networking events, online discussions, and industry meet ups will keep your name in circulation, making it more likely for opportunities to come your way in the future. If you are not visible people may forget about you, be that TOMATO in their mind. Top Of Mind Attracts Top Opportunities. In conclusion, while it’s important to manage your time effectively, dedicating some effort to networking even during busy periods can lead to valuable long-term benefits. It’s about finding a balance between your current commitments and your future growth.

The Power of Collaboration – Let’s Work Together

Collaboration is an act of working with someone or organisations to create or achieve the same goal. In this competitive era, we must always think about ways to collaborate with employees and partners to stay ahead. In this snapshot, we explain why collaboration is important and how collaboration results in innovative outcomes.

Working collaboratively within the company enhances the way in which your group cooperates and finds solutions, resulting in greater creativity, efficient processes, and better communication. Each team member possesses unique strengths, and collaboration enables them to come up with creative ideas and contribute towards a larger common goal. It is a good chance for you to understand other colleagues more so that you can know how they can help you in your position and get things done efficiently. By understanding other team members’ job positions, you can also ask for help if you have questions that are outside your profession. This is why team collaboration in a company is important.

Collaborating with other organisations is also common to see now as businesses can gain valuable resources from each other to grow their business faster and to be more innovative – it provides significant learning opportunities, as every interaction can provide valuable knowledge and insights. Even if you collaborate with your competitor, you can create new business opportunities or receive benefits. For example, McDonald’s and Burger King are both fast-food restaurants. They collaborated to raise money for children with cancer in 2019. Burger King launched a campaign called “A Day Without Whopper” to motivate customers to buy McDonald’s burgers to support as many children as possible. This collaboration helped McDonald’s generate additional funds and also increased Burger King’s brand awareness, made people desire Whopper more, and showed their charitable selflessness.

Overall, collaboration is essential for companies to thrive in a competitive environment, and it drives a positive impact on business. Internal collaboration promotes creativity, efficiency, and understanding among team members.
