Visions PR an introbizmember, has been nominated for the "Excellence in Marketing" category of the Welsh Business Awards 2010 and has just heard that they have been short-listed and can attend the Gala Dinner as a one of only three businesses from their area to be short-listed for that category.
SOUTH Wales businesses are being encouraged to “tweet” more often to keep clients and customers updated.
Cardiff-based corporate matchmaking group introbiz says the findings of its survey of businesspeople ranks Twitter in fourth place behind other popular social networking sites in terms of their usage by firms.
The poll of 50 businesspeople revealed that 73% did not use Twitter at all, favouring Facebook which was used by 50% and Linked-In at 42%.
But managing director of introbizTracey Jenkins said: “Twittering has really taken off in the UK with Ofcom revealing an average three million tweets a day, but our survey suggests that among Welsh businesses there is some way to go before it supersedes Facebook. “As a business building organisation, we encourage our members to interact using all forms of networking, and Twittering should be up there with e-mailing as a powerful form of communication.”
According to the poll, businesspeople remain hesitant in using social networking tools. When asked how confident they were in using them, six out 10 people said they felt inadequately skilled in this area.
Joel Hughes, head of Welsh web design company Jojet Ltd, said: “Social networking and Twitter are fantastic opportunities for your business to engage with a vast audience of untapped customers. “People buy from businesses they know, like and trust – Twitter allows your target market to tick all these boxes.”
A spokesman for Admiral Insurance, based in Cardiff, said Twitter was a useful tool for keeping customers up to date with big company announcements, such as half or full-year figures. He said: “Businesses have got to keep ahead of these things – we don’t have a huge number of followers but it’s good that they’re kept informed of big announcements. “We only update once or twice a month, but anybody who is following us can see what we are doing.”
Are you trying to find a member of your family? Has your search gone cold? Or do you just not know where to begin? You may be a birth parent, adopted person, a separated sibling, estranged parent or someone who has grown up in care - hoping to be reunited with lost relatives.
From Wall to Wall - the makers of the hit family history series Who Do You Think You Are? and BBC ONE drama New Tricks, a new documentary programme will aim to reunite long lost families. With a team of experts in tracing and finding people and in providing trained emotional support along the way, the programme will aim to reunite those on a quest to find their family members.
Each programme will follow the story of two different people who want to be reunited with a relative. The programmes will explore the issues involved when families separate in a sensitive and non judgmental way, as well as exploring the lengths some go to reunite and find answers. By featuring positive stories about the search and reunion process we hope to make family reunion more accessible and inspire people who have long thought about tracing a relative to take the next step.
If you are over the age of 18, have experienced family separation and now feel ready to seek a reunion then please get in touch.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mint and Mustard in Cardiff named one of the UK’s top 100 restaurants
IT’S already been named the Echo’s Restaurant of the Year – and now it’s one of the UK’s top 100 restaurants. Cardiff’s Mint and Mustard in Whitchurch Road has capped a great year by earning a place in a new list of the country’s top places to eat. The list, chosen by 350 food critics and restaurateurs, put the eaterie, which cooks up “fine dining with an Indian touch” at number 98. It is one of just two Indian restaurants in the UK on the list and head chef Anand George said he was “delighted” by the recognition. He said: “We are so delighted to be winning such a big award. “We have been coming up with new ideas to redefine Indian cuisine and in a short space of time we have won many awards, with the South Wales Echo Food and Drink awards and now this, for which we are grateful to our loyal customers. “We moved over from traditional food to fine dining with an Indian touch and I’m really proud of what we have achieved.” Shaun Hill, head chef at The Walnut Tree, the Abergavenny restaurant which reached number three in the awards, heaped praise on Anand and his staff. He said: “Two of my crowd were sitting right next to the Mint and Mustard people and they were ecstatic. “They are leading the way for Indian restaurants and showing them they need to be a bit braver and move away from tradition. “I think the public are ahead of the restaurants in this respect. The restaurants think all they want is a chicken tikka masala at the lowest possible price. But I think people are ready for something a bit different.” He added: “There is no reason why an Indian or Bangladeshi chef who has been brought up here should stick to what is traditional any more than me. “I think the way forward would be for restaurants to follow in the footsteps of Mint and Mustard and move away from this basic level.” At the ceremony in London on Monday, celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal scooped the top award with his restaurant, the Fat Duck in Berkshire. In total, six Welsh restaurants made the list. Paul Wootton, editor of Restaurant magazine, which organised the awards, said: “All the winners have earned their place on tonight’s roll of honour by demonstrating outstanding culinary talent, hard work and a commitment to serve consistently great food. They thoroughly deserve their award."
... the next introbiz event is on August 25th @ Wales Millenium Stadium, Cardiff, CF10 1NS. Enter at gate 4 (opposite Burger King). 4-6pm.
